I'm sure that anyone from our little city who reads that will be proud to know that Hev's mark is indelibly on the hearts of many!

I'd show you around Mt. Vernon...there's some places that you just HAVE to visit...like Joe's Pizza and 4th Street park where all the guys played basketball (and where Hev sponsored a summer basketball team:)Thee_Kweenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08407574065109052178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7395020092021631772.post-800269049342854832011-11-12T18:18:31.501-05:002011-11-12T18:18:31.501-05:00What a beautifully written blog love. I can't tell you when I first heard Heavy D and the Boyz but it had to be around 1987 and I was SOLD...hook, line and sinker.
The lyrics were SMOOTHER than SMOOTH. Catchy and danceable I found myself eventually falling in love with the "We Got Our Own Thang" single and everything else that ever came out by Heavy D. To say I loved his music, his very cool persona, the Boyz dancing...would be an understatement of immense proportions. I'm as big a fan...of Heavy D and the Boyz...as there EVER was. Heavy will be missed something awful. He represented Mt.Vernon in the most positive way imaginable and my heart aches for the people...my brothers and sisters of "Money Earnin' Mt.Vernon". I remember one time I wrote that after I posted a song and you laughed and chided me and asked, "Cookie...what chu know about Money Earnin' Mt.Vernon boy...you from the West Coast?" Well I might be...in fact I am...but over the years I've had a few very cool friendships with some very cool people from Mt.Vernon,New York. Namely you and my very good Army buddy John C. Manning. To the good people of Mt.Vernon...my brothers and sisters...to the family of Heavy D...I offer you love in the midst of loss. You all hold a very special place in my heart and ONE day I'm going to visit "Money Earnin' Mt.Vernon"...it's funny but just feel like a dear friend...of your town. God bless.

daMonstah,CEO of daBlogPound,Inc.Media FamilydaMonstahSpeakshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11078226145439560682noreply@blogger.com
